Description: Lonicera 'Mint Crisp' is an outstanding NEW variety of evergreen honeysuckle that has attractive variegated green and cream summer foliage which will brighten up any trellis or wall and has the added bonus that the foliage will change in colour and have a distinctive pink hue with the onset of colder temperatures in the autumn. Lonicera 'Mint Crisp' has scented, glistening white flowers when they first open, which turn to rich creamy- gold from June to October. This climbing plant really does deserve to be planted near doors and paths that are frequently used, not only so it can be seen regularly but so you can enjoy the beautiful sweet fragrance it gives off - a sheer delight! Ancient folklore believes that if a honeysuckle climbing plant grows around the entrance to the home it prevents goblins and witches from entering, and is said to bring good fortune. In many parts of the world honeysuckles have often been a symbol of affection and devotion. In Victorian times, however, young ladies were forbidden from selecting honeysuckles to use as cut flowers because they were considered to have too luscioius a scent which would cause them to have dreams which were far too risqué!
